Stem cell research might make a big progress this year in US, as more funding might become available. Currently, they're talking about curing diseases, but isn't it also possible to use the technology to enhance performance? If so, what's your take on that?

Not really sure they'd be a lot of use. Stem cells are the unprogrammed cells of the body used to repair damage and replace existing cells once you program the DNA, but whether you could use them to say increase the amount of muscle I'm not 100% sure.

I could forsee risks involved in this as introducing extra cells into an area of the body isn't that much different from injecting cancer cells and it might be better to let the body do the work in a more natural way.

I read about a research report where rats where used as test subjects. According to that, after genetic manpulation the strenght of rats increased by 60%. Significant gains in speed and muscle mass where also reported.

Pretty frightening. Shocked
