Anyone got $3.2 million to spare?

An estate in Western Michigan that has been the home of Muhammad Ali for over 25 years is now on the market. The private estate has 81 acres on the St. Joseph River and has a private security gate. Inside there are woods, lawns, perennial gardens, pool and both tennis and basketball courts. The home also has a gymnasium with a Jacuzzi, steam room and regulation size boxing ring. There is also a guest house, two barns and an office building.

Who on earth would want a home with a boxing ring in it? Kind of limits the marketability of the place, don't you think?

Interesting set of amenities. After working out in the gym you can relax in the steam room and sit in the Jacuzzi, invite a few friends over for beer and a fight, offer them a place to bed down for the night if they get too bruised or too drunk, feed the goats and milk the cows (or feed the cows and milk the goats) and after the weekend fun is done head to your office to earn your living. What kind of business would this person be in?

Yep... but then if you're in the marketing for spending a few million $, I'm sure renovating one or two rooms to your liking isn't going to be too much of a problem.

Well, yeah, no shit!

But how many boxers have that kind of money? There are just a handful of boxers in the world with the money to buy a house like that and how many of them are in the market for a home? That's makes it a pretty narrow market. That was my point.

Having a personal boxing ring would be amazingly cool. You could have your friends round for a few friendly boxing matches or host events charging admission etc.. Very Happy

KickNit ... I was fully aware of your point! Smile

My point is that if you have the buying power to afford these kinds of properties, then you ought to be able to look beyond any quirks of the previous owner.

Your new house has got a boxing ring when really you'd sooner have a ten pin bowling alley and a hot tub...? That's nothing a couple of hundred grand couldn't easily resolve...

I think it would cost more than a couple hundred grand to convert a boxing ring to a bowling alley, but I do get your point. Might be better off just to build the bowling alley from scratch and keep the boxing ring.

A couple of hundred grand in my money is $400,000 in yours. Wink
