Why do you think that the mighty New Zealand have struggled in World Cup tournaments?

Having been beaten by France this evening, they now have to wait until they host the tournament in 2011 by which time it will be 24 years since they won the event.

They clearly have one of the best teams, but they seem to struggle to produce the goods when they need to. Why?

Host of reasons. They couldn't handle the pressure, they peaked too early, they weren't tested at this tournament, the players were complacent and didnt have the passion, the rotation policy meant they couldn't form a proper XV, and so on.

Guess it's just one of those things Laughing. Brazil didn't win a World Cup for 24 years till 1994, yet they had teams with enough talent in them (particularly 1982).

They win Tri-Nations regularly though and that has plenty of pressure. I'm not really sure about the rotation argument either. The pack was pretty settled, as was the backline, with only 13 and 15 up for debate.
