Quite surprised that Mancini has chosen to make Patrick Viera his first signing at Man City. He seems reasonably well stocked in central midfield and Viera has been a shadow of his former self for a few seasons now. Seems an odd one.

Will he prove a success?

Can't quite understand it myself. A few months back there were rumours he might come back to Arsenal which Wenger didn't dismiss.

I think that was more a matter of courtesy and respect than anything, with Wenger not wanting to admit that he wasn't interested.

He certainly hasn't looked the same player since going to Italy. I suppose time will tell.

They also got him whilst he was injured. I thought Mancini would have gone for somebody young and full of talent rather than someone who has played very well in the past years. Arsenal trying to resign Sol Campbell is another interesting point for me as he seems past it now but we will see if those 2 players can prove us wrong.

Exactly, it's not like they're short of money. They can buy from a very large pool of players.
